I've always enjoyed the Wisp/Radiant archetype due to the efficient recursion and card advantage.
Tasbu, the Forbidden ups the efficiency even further and was begging for some experimentation. Former iterations of this archetype that I've made have been focused almost entirely on giving wisps like
Pathlighter,
Weary Spiteling, and
Entrancer killer using
Xenan Initiation and
Xenan Temple, pumping them with
Void Drummer, and bringing them back with
Soulbringer and
Shadowlands Guide. But this time around, I'm leaning more heavily into the Radiant side of the synergy with
Tasbu, the Forbidden and
Shadowlands Tyrant.
Basic game plan:
1) Mulligan almost any hand that doesn't include a one-drop wisp. You can't really get the gears turning without them.
2) I prefer to lead with
Entrancer on turn one due to the high probability of hitting a good target. Prefer Merchants over nearly any other card, if possible.
Pathlighter is often better saved for turn two to attack on turn 3, especially if you have a merchant in hand to draw
Soulbringer.
3) Land a
Xenan Initiation on either
Pathlighter or
Weary Spiteling. I prefer to wait for the opponent to have no available power. Also, surprise is on your side, especially with
Pathlighter. If it gets
Torched, it doesn't grow, and is still vulnerable when you being it back. Waiting for 3 power to play the wisp and the buff on the same turn can prove useful.
4) Waiting for 6 power to combo
Xenan Initiation or
Devour with
Soulbringer is higher value than playing him alone. Don't waste the tribute effect! Also, lean towards killing your wisps when the attack with killer instead of hitting a smaller unit so you can bring them back more easily.
5) Get
Tasbu, the Forbidden out to add card draw to your killer removal tricks.
6) Eventually, your growing wisps and card advantage with you the game.
TIPS:
1)
Mitotic Wisp's "entering the void trigger" is doubled by
Xenan Temple, keep that in mind!
2)
Azindel, Revealed is best saved for
Mitotic Wisp's ultimate. So feel free to bottom it with
Crest of Mystery so it's not dead in hand.
3) If facing a Justice deck, save your
Banish for
Adjudicator's Gavel.
4)
Xenan Temple doesn't give you a free
Rost, the Walking Glacier if you kill him, so don't be fooled.
****More to come when I have the time****
On a side note I haven't used a wisp deck since they added Tasbu, the Forbidden but that interaction looks fun! :D
Stay tuned for an update today or tomorrow, and, in the words of our gracious site hosts, "Please be excellent to each other. Don't be rude."
Oh and as for you Archer, do you go around white knighting often? Or are you new to jumping to the defence of people who probably don't need it?
