A real dumb idea that I'm having some fun exploring!
With
Cobalt Waystone giving everybody an aegis all the time (and a couple new ways of negating spells in
Daring Pioneer and
Unseal), I figured it was time to take another look at Decimate: ignores aegis, cannot be negated.
Since Decimate's big weakness is its cost, this has got a couple combos in place to try and cheat: Using
Second Sight to put it on top of your deck, lowering its cost with
Crimson Firemaw, and casting it by hand, AND/OR getting it in the void with
Blind Storyteller and triggering it with
West-Wind Herald.
Skyward Seer can be used to fetch either the CFM or the WWH, so figure out which combo pieces you already have and get the one you need. Decimate is the most expensive card in the deck, so
Whispering Wind can help get a hold of it. (It can also put Decimate in the void for the WWH plan, but keep in mind that it won't draw a new card.)
Both of those plans require the CFM/WWH hitting your opponent's face. If they don't have a face-aegis in place,
Icebow can get it through, but that's probably one of the first things to cut if you want to refine the idea (since being able to ignore aegis is one of the goals).
One of my first thoughts with this was setting up an
Eilyn, Queen of the Wilds combo to cheat it out, but she's already expensive enough that you aren't getting much out of it, and it requires having no other Primal spells in the deck. Another idea is
Jarrall Iceheart + some source of Overwhelm (inspired by seeing Kaelos working on
Iceheart on stream), but I don't have the Jarralls to try it out, and it requires not having
any other spells in the deck.
This deck would probably run better if it committed to one combo or the other, but I do like the redundancy of having two options.
Comments/suggestions to improve the real dumb idea into a kinda dumb idea are welcome!
