My initial take on a new Icaria Blue deck. There is probably tuning to be done, but I think the framework has a lot of potential. A lot of the usual control elements in these colors are here. Additionally,
Eclipse Dragon and
Vargo Redclaw both have great synergy with
Icaria, the Liberator. Eclipse Dragon also allows you to hold up power for your various fast spells while still developing a very useful body. Getting a 9/9 Quickdraw Charge Flying 5-drop off an Icaria hit is a huge bonus, as is a big, nearly impossible to kill Vargo from Icaria or
Korovyat Palace. Vargo is also a great combo with
Harsh Rule. The quality bodies these cards and Icaria afford enable the high-impact spells from Palace and
Howling Peak to be consistently valuable.
I feel that the best cards here are Icaria and Peak. I just put in a 4th Peak and 3rd
Jotun Hurler at the cost of two
Stormhalt Knife. This change could easily be reverted; Knife is amazing for dealing with big Icaria, other control decks, and for stabilizing. Hurler's
Snowball also deals with Rakano and control matchups by pinging off
Icaria, Valkyrie Captain,
Red Canyon Smuggler, and Aegis.
I really like 4 Peak maindeck because all three spells are really valuable here.
-
Gun Down hits most important units, including Icaria if you can pop Aegis and nerfed Vara, Vengeance Seeker
-
Kaleb's Favor curves neatly into Icaria. Dropping this site sets up board control and ensures you reach power for your finisher. Unlike most decks which prefer to play Favor third, this deck will commonly want to play Gun Down -> Kaleb's Favor -> Mirror Image to get Icaria into play and then copied. This is far from a rule or even a majority, though, as varying the order makes Peak very flexible and you will often (happily) play multiple copies of the site in a game.

Mirror Image has a lot of valuable targets, some of them already buffed by Icaria or
Withstand, or very difficult to kill even one of (i.e. Icaria and Vargo).
I played with
Eilyn, Clan Mother in the market originally, but I don't think she contributes much.
Mokhnati, Restored was better and is a solid choice for the top-end market slot, but I am currently on
Molot & Nakova, which is great. One other possibility for the future is
Scourge of Frosthome.
Vision of Austerity had to go in the market because
Sediti, the Killing Steel just wins games on its own against control decks and Rakano Valks is about to take over the meta.
Would love to discuss!
Icebolt has been such a welcome card!
Eclipse Dragon giving us free wisdom of elders, or torch, or whatever, is so great too.
