This is an update of a similar deck from a while back involving milling
Azindel, Revealed and some various sentinels and then popping them out relatively early game using
Grasping at Shadows and
Stirring Sand respectively. With the addition of
Kairos, Grand Champion and
Ramba, Arena Showman I think this strategy has a lot more viability than before. Ultimately, if you can manage to get both Kairos and Azindel on the field at the same time, you win. I’m still tinkering with the exact mix, but I’ve found that this strategy reliably lets me get Kairos and other big baddies out quicker than the straightforward Praxis ramp strategies utilizing him.
The current meta is pretty chaotic, but there are definitely a few things that can completely shut down this deck; particularly:
Vanquisher's Blade,
Avigraft, and
Adjudicator's Gavel. Depending on how things shake out it may make more sense to run
Unmake and trim some of the removal and/or switch out
Kerendon Merchant for
Ebon Dune Smuggler to counter those kinds of strats. As it stands I like having the shadow merchant’s deadly for tempo and
Vara's Choice for scouting as well as a healthy dose of permanent removal with
Cremate.
I’ll try to keep this updated as things progress. Any suggestions appreciated. One thing is for sure, it can be a lot of fun to play with this deck.
