Before reading any further and possibly wasting your time:
THIS DECK IS EXTREMELY SLOW
If you do NOT like slow decks, then this isn't for you. Yet if you like to control your opponent and don't mind going the extra distance, then here you go.
The deck focuses on the enemies turn,
Ambush and
Fast Spells are the core.
The point where it might get boring to play is when you actually almost always pass your own turn, to save the power for the enemies turn. Not aiming for any combo within the playstyle, there are still some mini-combos popping up every now and then, but they are not necessary to play this successfully.
Card choices:
Desperate Courier - As we aim to play on the enemies turn (and the AI hardly ever wastes a spell on him), we want cards even cheaper than they already are. Also he is a good blocker against aggro decks to have in the opening hand.
Desert Alchemist - Ambush, ground removal, power fixer, deadly.
Devour - tactical card draw, as when a unit gets removed with a spell or you would want to exhaust an attacking enemy unit.
Immortalize - Sometimes we want a unit back, especially useful when used on an ambush unit on the enemies turn
Send an Agent,
Banish,
Deathstrike - Obviously core removal card (
Deathstrike over other 4 cost removals because its fast)
Twisted Farmer - Nice blocker and part of a mini-combo if wanted, Every Mandrake he spawns counts as card played on the enemies turn, thus favouring the abilities of
Sewer Crocodile and
Rolant's Enforcer
Ayan, the Abductor - Ambush, Lifesteal and can get you a nicely buffed (vanilla) Croco or Enforcer in the later game
Ebon Dune Smuggler - Ambush Merchant
Scorpion Wasp - Almost similar to Desert Alchemist, no plunder but anti flyer
Sewer Crocodile and
Rolant's Enforcer - They both can become huge threats if you play your cards on the enemies turn and are your main damage dealers
Saber-Tooth Prideleader - We hate Relics and Relic Weapons & he's Ambush
Curtain Call - Finisher. Can also be combo'd nicely with
Twisted Farmer because when used correct the Mandrake won't get sacrificed at the end of the turn.
Market
Devastating Setback - Mass removal for them aggro decks... eventhough i haven't yet need it
Dizo's Office - because it's better than Xenan Temple for what we need it
Azindel, Revealed - 2nd win con
In Cold Blood - Anti Makto
Twinned Spiteling - because I couldn't think of anything better
As stated further above. We intend to play on the enemies turn, not aggressive. The AI is mostly pretty stupid and will run into your deadly ambushes and reduce his hand pretty fast, that'S when this deck starts to shine, because that's when you are in absolute control and even
Harsh Rule wont save him anymore.
Also make sure to not overplay/flood your board, just play whats necessary to be one step ahead.
This deck might not be the best there is out there, but it runs stable, eventhough slow and doesn't cost too much to craft. Also it's something diferent to most other decks out there atm.
Can it compete in Throne? I have no idea. Yet if you want to give it a try, go ahead, I don't believe the enemy will see it coming.
Also it has performed really well. Currently 14-0.
I'm glad it works for you and that you are too having fun with playing stuff that isnt usual.
I've lately tried to update this deck with cards from the new set, but it's not working for now.
If there was a prize for innovative decks, i'd definately give you my vote.
It can't be mentioned often enough, but thanks to you (and some other great deckbuilders) people like me get a better understanding of the game itself and its possibilities.
Maybe the decks are not the best out there, as you mention yourself, they make room for creativity
