F.A.Q.
***UPDATE/EDIT: Swapped some cards to go full combo and include Dread loops.
What is this?
- Welcome to Experiment #687 with Clockroaches, Revenge cards, and- of course-
Crown of Possibilities.
Note that it's coincidentally a budget deck, as the only Legendary is Crown of Possibilities.
What's the motivation for the deck's construction?
- Let's try to make a Clockroach deck that uses a Revenge engine instead of that notoriously bad engine where we put cards to the top of our deck.
- Yes, indeed.
Ok, so what's the strategy?
- Do not settle for an opening hand that does not contain a Pledge unit. (
Severin, the Mad Mage is the ideal Unit to Pledge.)
-
Glasshopper will fetch you the unit you Pledged every time it is Summoned.
- Get out
Crown of Possibilities and/or
Glasshopper early, saving 1-2 Power on enemy turns so you can surprise them with a Fast Spell Revenge card or
Curtain Call.
- We use Revenge cards to get our units to recur and profit! Note that you benefit from additional copies of Glasshopper and Severin on the field.
What about the Unit selections?
-
Maveloft Huntress is amazing at board control. I love this card and it is essential for survival. Killer + Imbue for 2 Power, 2 Primal is insane. (Oh yeah, and it has Plunder!)
- I am unsure about the right ratio of
Blightmoth,
Ripknife Assassin, and
Desert Alchemist.
Have fun!
From the spoiler article:
If you Plunder a multi-faction non-power card, it has an equal chance of transforming into a Sigil of each of its factions. Factionless cards will transform into a Sigil of your starting deck’s factions, again at equal chance.
So that means if I plunder Crown of Possibilities, I have a 50/50 shot at {P}, and if I plunder Severin, the Mad Mage, it's only a 33% chance. Well, Maveloft Huntress is a pretty good card, after all, but even without it, I still would adjust the power base.
I have a standard 3-influence power base that I run in all my decks as a baseline that utilize the respective "Chant/Cargo" for the influence trio, and I tweak it slightly depending on the cost curve. This one is low to the ground, so I kept it at the 25 cards with 4 Auralian Cargo. So the power base I use is this:
4 Auralian Cargo
2 Time Sigil
2 Primal Sigil
2 Shadow Sigil
4 Elysian Cylix
1 Seat of Wisdom
4 Crest of Mystery
3 Seat of Mystery
4 Xenan Cylix
3 Seat of Cunning
I determine the mix of sigils and seats based on the overall influence requirements and cost curve.
Anyways, I feel like it's running a lot better like this, and I don't miss the deadly + ambush, because the upside of the cargo turning into a different card is awesome.
