I'm going to say it outright:
Crown of Possibilities is my favorite card. Here we are, on the dawn of the new set, and I figured I might as well share the Crown deck that carried me through the most recent expansion. It's definitely not a competitive deck, but it's reasonably consistent, and fun when it works.
For a while, I've believed that one of the strongest things to do with Crown of Possibilities is to abuse Merchants. While
Second Sight and
Nesting Avisaur allow you to redraw the same card and get more Crown triggers, they also suffer from being... pretty bad cards. You essentially have to be using them with an echo card to make up for the card disadvantage. On the other hand, Merchants and
Dark Return also allow you to redraw the same cards multiple times, while also not being a massive tempo loss. So, find a Crown, find a unit, then shuffle it back and forth through the market, the battlefield, your hand (via
Twinning Ritual) and your deck (in case you get revenge) until it has a pile of skills.
I've also been a big fan of running
Talir, Who Sees Beyond in the market of Crown decks, since she works really well with our ability to redraw units at-will. The big change I'll call out for this deck when compared to other Crown decks I've run in the past is
Kairos, Grand Champion in the market. While this deck isn't as all-in as Talir + Kairos /
Vodakhan, Temple Speaker decks have been in the past, it still provides a very powerful backup win condition if the game goes long.
Other things to call out:
Devotee of the Sands - not a great card to buff with Crown, but being a unit is valuable, as is its ability to dodge
Torch when shifted, unlike most other cheap ramp units.
Strange Navigator - not necessary as another lategame win condition (although it does work as one), but here because it's one of the more reasonable 2-drops available.
Dread - I've run it in Crown decks alongside
Glasshopper before, but the other pledge units have always felt underwhelming, and Glasshopper is pretty inconsistent. That said, Dread's ability to function as Dark Return 5-8 is quite nice.
Twinbrood Sauropod - a few extra echo units to serve as market fodder (and power up Talir).
Sandstorm Titan,
Worldbearer Behemoth,
Black-Sky Harbinger,
Grodov's Stranger - season to taste, and run whichever topend units you feel like. Worldbearer Behemoth and Grodov's Stranger were chose partially to enable the Predator's Instinct in the market.
Market stuff:
Predator's Instinct - this could be Twilight Hunt[/card]. It's a cheap way to kill a thing, and works well with recursion.
Sandstorm Scarf - partially here as a cheap way to turn on
Great Valley Smuggler, but also here because the deck otherwise doesn't have a lot of anti-flying tech.
Gnash, Desert Prince is another option.
Lumen Reclaimer - While I love the idea of running it for the entomb effect to shuffle in sweet cards buffed by Crown, it's actually here primarily for the summon effect. Fantastic against both the mill and
Kato, Arena Herald decks I kept running into.
Talir, Who Sees Beyond and
Kairos, Grand Champion - as mentioned above, it's a very consistent alternate win condition if you can get to 8+ power.
....I'm looking forwards to figuring out what new Crown tech Argent Depths brings. Mixed feelings so far about imbue and decay being added to the pool of skills it can grant, but they definitely have their uses.
