Back and Beefier!
An edit of my previous favorite gauntlet deck
Gauntlet Lifesteal Combo - now with 100% more Grumbo!, with greater consistency, more combos, and even more spice! Was waiting to post this until the new set to see if any pieces fit. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like anything is worth replacing, but it's more than strong enough as is.
Main Deck Changes
Most of the times I was losing with the last deck was due to either not drawing into a combo or not being able to play on curve. Swapping out
Bloodcall Invoker and
Grim Reminder for
Cull the Deck and
Bloodnurse allows you to do a lot more in the 1-2 power range, and greatly increases the likelihood of drawing into a combo with both better card access and the creation of a new combo. I'm not good at math, but more combos + more draw = more % get combo.
Bloodnurse is pretty useless by itself, but adds so many more options to what you can do with this deck. With the change to
Grodov's Burden to buff your units +1/+1, you can twist
Bloodnurse to create 2/2
Vampire Bats, then chump block with the bats and put the weapons on
Bloodnurse. Each sacrificed
Vampire Bat lets you twist into 2 more, so you can lock down the board if you aren't getting great draws otherwise and either buy yourself time to build a combo or just win an outright war of exalted attrition. And worst case scenario they kill your
Bloodnurse after your one twist and you still have a 5/3 flier with lifesteal, but the AI tends to focus their removal on your
Vampire Bats which only helps your cause. The last deck, while strong, didn't have much counter-play to large flying units besides pulling
Gnash, Desert Prince from the market, so this adds another dimension to your defense.
The Combos
I am pleased to announce that the total number of unit-only combos has increased to 3! That's a whopping increase of 50%! Here are the combinations that will cascade into absurd wins without needing to play another card:
1)
Katra, the Devoted +
Spiritweaver+
Moldermuck
(needs +1/+1 to activate, then attack with
Moldermucks)
2)
Katra, the Devoted +
Grumbo, Tota Legend+
Moldermuck
(just need to attack with
Moldermucks)
3)
Katra, the Devoted +
Grumbo, Tota Legend +
Bloodnurse
(twist
Bloodnurse down to 1 health then attack with
Vampire Bats)
If you manage to get all 4 units then it gets even spicier.
And if
Katra, the Devoted doesn't want to hang out with you and you can't get any combo, just play
Grodov's Burden and outlast them. Now every unit besides
Katra, the Devoted gains exalted and there is more access to lifesteal units, so it should be easy in almost every match.
Market
Same as last time with
End Of An Era and
Slumbering Range swapped for
Mask of Torment and
Banish. Honestly these spots don't really matter much, just pull
Grodov's Burden first unless:
You're about to lose to fliers -->
Gnash, Desert Prince
You're about to lose to a big fat fatty -->
Huntmaster Vikrum
