How to play
1. Give your face an Aegis.
2. Play
Poacher's Menagerie and/or
Gift of the Auric Bank +
Stormhalt Plating. (For extra value, play
Gift of Xulta first.)
3. Win.
Some tips:
You should use
Seek Power and the Favors to draw a Sigil to turn your Seats on as soon as possible. Play your Sigils last to keep your Seats undepleted for as long as possible.
Influence requirements are JJJJPPPSS - keep this in mind when deciding what to fetch with Seek Power. Early on, unless you're getting beat down and really need undepleted Shadow to turn
Shrivel on, you should generally prioritise fetching Primal Sigils to hit PP for Wisdom and PPP for
Display of Survival. You don't need JJ until turn 4 at the earliest for
Nothing Remains and will have time to find JJJJ for plating in the late game.
Face Aegis is really important with all the relic hate floating around. Remember that you can use the third mode on Display to give yourself an Aegis in response to removal. If you don't have an Aegis,
Mystical Shackles or
Lunar Claw can act as sacrifice fodder in response to
Minotaur Lighthoof or
Display of Will.
Against an opponent's face Aegis, you can use Lunar Claw to pop the Aegis so you can transform their Menagerie with Display or kill a unit with Shackles.
Against Stonescar,
Syl, No Regrets is the biggest problem. Save Mystical Shackles, Lunar Claw and
Call The Hit to deal with her to minimise taking extra damage.
Anyway, I beat it each time but that's not fault of the deck or players. I am playing a mono Justice deck with Aegis units and Orene's Scepter, which make for a hard counter to spell based control. I expect that unit based decks without aegis would have a much harder time. *Sigh* I hope this doesn't shape up to be another control meta where you have to play Aegis to counter it.
Also, watch out for Rain of Frogs.
And honestly, as much as I prefer metas where combat matters, I'm having fun with this deck and the current meta. It's not too oppressive, and I've found it is definitely possible to go under this deck. Rakano in particular with its charge units, the 2/1 Dino that can draw another copy and Bullseye as such an efficient answer to relics seems pretty well placed to do just that. Stonescar, with its discard options and Syl in particular to punish spells is also a challenge.
So basically, I think there's enough out there to keep control decks honest.
