As I got into masters over the last few days 80% of the decks I'm encountering in high diamond rank are:
Minotaur Armory Like It's 2019 (Rank 1 Dec 2022) Minos
Applechips' Deck (1st) Destruction Weenies
iron_man's Deck (6th) Menace Tempo
TheBergund's Deck (9th) Hooru Control
NotoriousGHP's Deck (2nd) Combrei Creation Project (or other creation project variants)
Or variations of those themes
This deck can beat all of them. Not every time, but the consistency of one faction is pretty good.
The main weakness this deck has is against overwhelming artifacts - so if any of the artifact decks above get rolling - you are probably dead.
General Card Strategies:
Combrei Lawmage my preferred 2nd turn play - especially if you are on the draw and your opponent's 2nd turn was a
Dinosaur Nest. This card is also good against the destruction weenies deck which relies on going wide and this card will prevent that.
Lunar Claw good for taking out most things 4 health and under or potentially locking down removal if you have a good lock with Lawmage.
Save the Day this card really made things work. As a 4th removal (
Lunar Claw,
Mystical Shackles,
West, On the Trail being the other 3 ), its great - it kills anything without restriction, and then it locks down your opponents blockers for the next 2 turns. It wasn't preferred but I did several full casting costs to get through a stalled board.
Tavrod, Bankroller and
Svetya's Decree can fill in some cards later in the game.
Other Tips:
Don't go wide when you don't have to. Especially true against control, but often your big units can just sit back and block until you draw a
Save the Day or
Stormhalt Plating.
In most cases you want to save
Mystical Shackles for a key card.
Grumbo, Tota Legend,
Dashing Scoundrel,
Scalesworn Patrol, cards that can take over a game. Note that
Combrei Lawmage can often keep the
Argenport Soldier from coming out if they destroy it.
Edit: Took DoYourBestBear's advice and threw in Hour of Kodosh - works great.
Svetya's Decree is a dead card imo - I played the list without changing anything and decree was just an inscribe. Very seldom was card draw an option and any other time it was just a dead card. Its only a 2 of and so I cut decree and replaced it with hour of kodosh - I still get my justice sigil but now I also get some armor to play into other synergies and a buff for combat. The change has definitely made a difference in ease of play and the outcomes of some of the matches.
I agree with your comment about consistency and, with adding hour of kodosh, I have noted an increase in consistency.
EDIT: i forgot to mention i never run more than one star charts, so i did cut 1 of those for another J sigil.
I think its fine using net decks, brewing is hard and the month is short for getting to masters, it also teaches you along the way what makes a good deck and what will fit in the current meta.
I hadn’t played Eternal in over 2 years. I decided to start again 2 weeks ago. I home brewed my deck and am already in Masters. It’s not that hard and, clearly, doesn’t take that long.
